I woke up…
To empty arms
To a pain in my heart
A pain like an open wound
I want to go back to sleep

I dreamed of you…
Of your smile
Of your hugs
A place and time without any misery
I never wanted to wake up

I woke up…
To a broken heart
To my eyes wet with tears
A cascade of tears from the sadness of realization
I want to go back to sleep to “re-live” all those times with you

I dreamed of you…
Of your laugh
Of your blue eyes
A memory that would later crush me (but not yet)
I never want to wake up to face reality

I want to be with you
Even if only in my dreams
