My Daughter Has A Labrador Poem by C.F. Wilkins

My Daughter Has A Labrador

My daughter has a Labrador;
He has a golden hue.
He is faithful in his duties,
Like a soldier tried and true.

Once, when he was just a young pup,
He was taken away.
But, the Lord brought him back to her
In a most miraculous way.

Yes, this dog is loved and cherished,
As a family pet.
Yet, I won't debate his future state;
God's in control, so I'll not fret.

-Listen to this:

Peter's fish and Balaam's donkey,
The whale that bore Jonah along,
Leviathan and Behemoth,
The list goes on and on;

All of these our Lord controlled!
He cares for the birds in the air-
Creatures of the land, creatures of the seas,
Underground and everywhere.

-Behold:

God gave us the Great Commission,
To win the souls of men.
That's our purpose and our charge;
To ignore this would be a great sin!

We are to spread the Word of God
To people far and near-
Preaching the bold gospel so all
Of God's creatures may hear.

So, let us keep this main purpose,
And not be distracted
From winning souls among mankind,
Lest our rewards be subtracted!

In the millennial Kingdom,
When the 'wolf shall dwell with the lamb',
I'm sure family pets will enjoy Sabbath Rest
In the glory of the Great I Am.

When New Jerusalem descends from Heaven
And claims its majestic berth,
We will shout God's praises with all of God's creatures,
On His pristine, beautiful, new earth!

So, I'll not fret nor speculate
About the old Labrador.
For, no matter how much I may care,
His Creator cares millions of times more.
