My Darling Persephone



i saw you
in the field
no boy or girl
within sight
and i blinked and
you were gone
you slipped away
out of my reach
into another's arms
ready to make you
their own
desparate
for you
i wandered the earth
as the air grew cold
and i remained
abandoned
