My Cravings Poem by Tatyough Terungwa Thomas

My Cravings

With the memories of you in my mind
I wish the wind can take me to find you
Now I am full of regrets
Still finding it hard to forget
With you still on earth
I hope we still cross path

I am like a caged bird
who craves for freedom
I stand on the grave of dreams
and shout on a nightmare scream
with a fearful trill
I pray for things I longed for still
My tune is heard from a distant hill
as I sing of freedom

Africa! land of the grieved
Our hereos strived for a better place
with echoes and pain of them in the rain
Tearful woes of ancient slavery
Seemed to have gone in vain
Our leaders are head high just like a Giraffe
I now crave a better place
and with tears of melancholy
I sit and wait for tomorrow to deliver the future
