My Best Friend............ Poem by kaavyaa kriday

Among the stars I see one shine, alone in the end,
It looks so still, very small until, I know that one’s my friend
For years of support, and friendship intact, I recall
The memories of the little gal who stood with me like a wall.
In every fads and foibles enroute in my journey of life
She was there supporting me, encouraging against all my strife
Unknown to me as I succeeded through all difficulties that came,
I stood upright, stable and tough; I knew it is a game
I won everything & there were many celebrating with me
But she was the one standing silent, not flattering me
Notwithstanding, I believed she was jealous and selfish,
She remained in dark, for a bad friend I had a bad wish.
But my conscience protested, heart not ready to agree
I came to know my mistakes as my thoughts went free.
Her shine was modest, gentle and uncontemporary,
She was the light through which a travelled to glory
Even then I could not match her values, her strength so wide…
My emotions of guilt & proud for my best friend, I can’t hide...
