My Angel Poem by Courtney Wills

My Angel

A glorious angel
came to me one day
with a big grin
messy, brown hair
and forest-green eyes.
He called me pretty
(a terrible lie to believe)
and held me tight with
large silver-ringed hands
(enough to think he cared) .
I trusted him
And let him daze me
into an oblivion
a vertigo.
He put his head
on my lap
and his hand
on my heart
(such a sweet gesture I'd never think to distrust it)
But then he
started to press his hand
until it
teared past the skin
and muscle
broke its way through the bone
and tore out my heart
with the arms he used to wrap
around me
and ate it until
his smile
was dripping
with my blood
and his hair
covered the now
luminescent green eyes.
As I gasped
putting my hands over
this large hole in my chest
I pondered
at how lovely
a demon
could be.
