Moving Train Poem by Gerald Kithinji

Moving Train

And I remembered that train ride as we passed Tsavo
and the elephants raised their ears in warning or greeting
As I watched at the window and dared them
approach the moving monster of a train
That would not stop to let us stare in wonder!
Oh that futile attempt to plead with the driver
To bring to a halt his unstoppable charge
Oh that futile attempt to halt a moving train!
