Move On Poem by Michael John Cook

Move On

Forget about it, they say
As if it had no significance
Put it behind you, they say
As if it were easy to turn my back on
Cheer up, they say
As if it were that simple
Calm down, they say
As if I were blowing things out of proportion
Get some rest, they say
As if my insomnia were so easily cured
Book a holiday, they say
As if being elsewhere would fix things
Talk to someone, they say
As if my words had fallen on deaf ears
Move on, they say
As if I were dwelling on it
Smile, they say
As if I wasn't happy at all
What's wrong, they say
As if they hadn't paid any attention
I'm here for you, they say
As if I were blind and hopeless
I love you, they say
As if they have any idea
Be brave, they say
As if I am battling for my life
Forget about it, they say
As if I hadn't heard that before
