Morning Sun Poem by Ronald Strickland

Morning Sun

Rating: 5.0

I sat in the morning sun,
waiting for it to chase the chill of the night away.
As I listened in silence,
I realized I wasn't waiting alone.
The silence is the absence of the birds that sing their morning songs.
An occasional rustle of the dew-covered leaves
breaks the silence and then is gone.
In the silence,
my thoughts take me back to life,
which made me strong.
Thoughts of the days,
of a family that prayed and thanked God
for each and every day.
The silence is broken
as the sun has chased away the chill
and the birds begin to sing their morning songs.
I listen to their beautiful song,
and thank God again for each day
and for His guidance that keeps me strong.
