More Than Most Poem by Oscar Peterson

More Than Most

Harriet Tubman was a slave,
Her owners told her to behave.

She worked real hard,
But her path was Barred,

As she sought, her way to freedom,

Harriet Tubman found a way,
She found a way to get away.

She sought for and yearned,
For this was she renowned,

For her lost ones like Ben, or Harriet Green,

Harriet Tubman sought a way,
To find freedom for those away.

She found many ways,
Like the back hills and bays,

As she helped others along the dark way,

Harriet Tubman Sought others right,
And found that the hunters, to could bite.

She knew what was hers,
As well as was others,

And she sought for freedom of color and race.

Harriet Tubman she bought a kingdom,
Where her sweat brought forth freedom.

And Though she fought till the end,
The south did not bend,

Though she managed to do more than most.
