Money (Money Unused Is Like A Good Poem Unread.) Poem by U Win Kyi

Money (Money Unused Is Like A Good Poem Unread.)

I have been to many countries,
and collecting the small bank-note and coin money,
as a souvenir,
and thus not to forget but to remember,
both the holiday trips,
and the travel for biz.

A Dollar from America,
A Rupee from India,
A Rupiah from Indonesia,
A Pound from England,
A Baht from Thailand,
A Yen from Japan,
A Yuan from China
A Rand from South Africa,
A kyat from Burma,
etc, etc, etc, etc.......
To change into local currency....so bothersome,
which would cause the bank staff...no fun.

So at my home in Taiwan, in a piggy bank,
staying for a long time without rent,
and their buying power becoming less and less,
due to deflation, inflation and depreciation.
One day, on the aeroplane, I read a pamphlet of World Vision,
about the collection of foreign coins,
to save the children living below poverty line,
to help them attend school and buy food,
a charity so meningful and good.

Any amount of money left un-spent is like a poem well-written but left un-read.
They are no more than a piece of paper....worthless.
For doing an random act of kindness,
next time when I travel on that air-line,
to a beautiful stewardess, I will hand over all my coins,
to make the poor children's lives a bit shine.
The old bank-notes maybe less crispy,
but they can make the children more happy.
