Miss Bodycam Poem by Percy Dovetonsils

Miss Bodycam

If I had a daughter
I'd have her fitted
with a bodycam

because I know
what scum
men
can be.

Before
they started lying
and denying
they went all Weinstein
and Cosby and Epstein
and Trump
on her

I'd play the tape.
I'd broadcast
the instant replay
of their shame
and aggression
from the highest points
in the land.

They'd get away
with nothing.

They'd be instantly
tried
and convicted
in the highest court
in the country,
the court
of public opinion,

and become
the pariahs
they so richly
deserved
to be.

As for my daughter,
she'd be known
as Miss Bodycam.

So renowned
and girdled
with the righteous
truth
not even fat disgusting
middle aged businessmen
in the streets and subways
would dare
to whisper
foul propositions
in her ear.

Every man
in the world
would be forced
to be
on the up and up
with her.

And if that meant
she never found a man
or even got laid
- -so be it.
