Mid Summer Evening Poem by John Champion

Mid Summer Evening

Scattered petals drifting on the water
stars reflected in the rippling surface
musk of frangepani thickening the air
leafy boughs rustling as they shift in gentle breeze
mid evening by the lake
shapes dancing and laughter soft in near distance
sound and vision sweetly blurred by dusk
warm air slipping across skin
the voice of your lover the most pleasing murmour
everything glowing in this timeless instant
your head light and giddy
as love opens your senses
and sweeps over them like a long clean wave
foaming up a lost desert shore.
