Mexico's Migrant Children Poem by Uma nair

Mexico's Migrant Children

The wailing wall
Conceals connections
Familial love

The promised land
Turns and transforms
Into a crisis of conscience

Tearing infants
Thrown into metal cages
Fearful fragile tents

No hands to heal
No words to whisper
No hearts with warmth

The cries of
The children cover
The Mexican wall

Dreams die
Before being born
Mothers mourn

Their children's
Existence now alien
Amongst living dead

Frida Kahlo's
Flowers lie
Crumpled and crushed
