Men Are Dogs Poem by Adams King

Men Are Dogs

Who speak of a devoted man
With a badge of truthful feelings

Who speak of a loyal man
With a heart of constant love

Is the chameleon's coat
no longer subject to changing colours

Men are dogs
Loyal to no mistress

Birds that perches on every tree
Seeking pleasing pleasures

Have you forgotten the actions
Of our ancestral forefathers

Who bent the scriptures and twisted
Culture to permit their lustful looseness

We hide behind our mask of reasons
reasonable to no better sense of reasons

Once a dog like me once carved
Our most profitable proverb

He said the sky that entertains the sun
Also welcome the darling moon

We are but unsubmissive soldiers of life
Settling not for a constant course

From one mistress to another
Seeking heavens the earth can't provide

Who has ever trusted a man in love
You were once crowned a loving fool

I am but a man with a sincere tongue
Surrendering to our unfaithfulness

Nothing can be said or done
To have such philosophies undone

Men are dogs and dogs will remain
With a dent of disloyalty upon our name
