Memories Prevail Poem by Brianna Trombley

Memories Prevail

Rating: 5.0

His hand on the trigger
Gun aimed at his heart
From this world
He wishes to depart

In this moment of truth
Flashbacks of his life
The number, countless
Of times he reached for a knife

Recalling the shinning blade
Dripping with blood
Depressed and alone
Rejected by love

He wonders how the answer
Of ending his life has derived
He knows its because, slashing his veins
Was the only time he ever felt alive

He thinks back to the happiness
He felt when he was young
All of that ended
When his mom left for above

If she saw him right now
What would she think
The thought leaves him frozen
His heart starts to sink

He rethinks
What hes about to do
This plan of his
He doesn’t know if he can go through

Shaking and scared
He puts the gun down
Falling to his knees
He hits the ground

the darkness that
has filled his life
disappears, lost
somewhere in the new light

since the loss of his loved one
he thought his life should curtail
but now he decides to live life
memories prevail

A poem-tale about a particular state. I wonder whether this author knows 'The Darkness Song' by Dino Campana, an italian poet of the twentieth century. However these lines are written very well.
