Memories' Cue Poem by Jibrael Jos

Memories' Cue

The cue was deft
A whiff of perfume
A crystal clear reminder
Of that girl in class

The Girl
way over my league
Short and Sweet
down to earth
but clearly upper class

With eyes that could melt
A hermits resolve
She was like the moon, for her
my earthly heart could revolve

Her dainty fingers
Even today I can clearly see
perfect in every way
Her charming smile
the respite at the end
Of a tiring day

Three years flew by
A few conversation
we did share
She seemed to
like my humour
but I never did dare

It was the last day
I didn't have a clue
Without her
what will I do?

A thought danced
In the corner of my mind
It slowly gathered speed
It felt an urge
To spark and burst

An idea fell in place
The thought started
slowly moving onward
It slowly took shape
It slowly took form

A curvy glass bottle
Olfactory-ly perfect! !
I gathered courage
And on the very last day
Asked her
the name of her perfume?

Pretty tragic you might say
And what is even more sad
I could not afford
To buy it back then

It was three years later
In a Paris duty free
I could buy one for me

tshissss......
The cue was deft
A whiff of perfume
A crystal clear reminder
Of that girl in class
