Memories are made of events and things
That happen every day around us,
Moments as we like them
Things we do or say.
Little bits and pieces
Of laughter mixed with eyes,
Paragraphs and pages,
Memories written on our mind.
The carefree days of childhood,
The growing pain of youth,
A few illusions shattered,
In the endless search of truth.
The friendship and loved ones we remember
Mistakes we regret
The ending of a love affair
We never could forget
Yes, memories are happenings,
Each one a different kind,
Each one a separate chapter,
That is imprinted on our mind
We cannot erase the sadness,
Nor edit our tears,
We cannot undo the wrong we’ve done.
We cannot re-live the past years.
But since memories keep building,
Each day can start,
By making new and happy ones
To store within our heart.
