Mathematical Know-How Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Mathematical Know-How

At first grade level, she was happy,
managing mathematics in 'A' Stream
'addition and subtraction' ~
quite straightforward!
'division and multiplication' ~
slightly awkward!
But algebra and geometry
soon rocked the scene,
the start of a slightly unpleasant dream...
and logarithms were mean ~ so mean
baffling the mind of this young beauty queen
But to be a financial success,
mathematical know-how
she would have to possess;
and now, with a little more learning,
confidence and hope are returning.
