Margaret Hamilton Poem by Ima Ryma

Margaret Hamilton

July 20th, '69 -
The first step by man on the moon.
Neil Armstrong did that first step fine,
Thanks to a woman's work fine tune.
Margaret Hamilton led the team
That developed the smart software
To know better, when it did seem
No way to land right then and there.
Abort the mission was almost
Decided as the only choice,
Until that smart software did post
'It's a go' in computer voice.

Thus, there came that first step by man,
Thanks to a woman's software plan.
