Malanni's Wisdom On Love Poem by Paul Sebastian

Malanni's Wisdom On Love

Each minute crawls sluggishly
I’m wired up with impatience
Patience fled, nerves took me
Thoughts turned into questions

Where are you, my beloved Malanni?
I’m so lost, so empty in your absence
My whole being craves your company
My aching arms long for your presence

In my heart’s garden she was waiting
Sitting by the fountain of youth
Into my arms she ran, asking:
Where’s patience, the part of you?

She reasons:

Love is patient, willingly waits
Love is never selfish, it’s other centred
Love is kind, never berates
Love is not jealous, boastful or proud

Love always protects
Love always perseveres
Love always trusts
Love always forgives

Oh, my beloved, never doubt
Our love has weathered seasons
Let embers burn, through draught
God purposed lives, let’s live the reason!

Malanni throws arms round my neck
Gave heart-piercing look into my eyes
Melting me in her arms, we kissed hard
Affirming our love, trusting our promises
