Lunch Poem by David Wood

Lunch

Rating: 4.5

Long ago and far away
On a long hot summer's day

I set a record in the sea
That everybody there could see

Some men on the beach just pointed
Something behind me they'd pinpointed

Shouting a word ending in ark.
They were pointing at a blooming shark

It gave me a kind of hunch
This shark wanted me for its lunch

So I swam to the shore like merry hell
Which left me feeling very well

(And knackered too!
Oh, what a to do)

Now this is a very true tale
I saw the shark thrash its tail

The shark cursed and swam away
And said 'I will get you one day.'

'Tis a warning for you all to keep
Just look hard before you leap.

Some sharks can be a bad bunch
They will try and have you for their lunch.
