Lozenge For 'He' Poem by RUP POKHAREL

Lozenge For 'He'

Rating: 4.0

When commitment is distorted
And the words made are derailed,
Illusion smiles and trust lightens
Hope withers and progress declines.

When egoist entity is well laid
And of self-great declaration made
With naïve soul the body mingles
Bond weakens and lives all single.

When greed is prayed and gotten
And needs of the next is forgotten
Entity heads towards uncertainties
‘The scum of the Earth’ is certainly he.

When wit is not timely updated
And speculations are often stressed
Stands on axe and in vacuum he hears
On non-progressive wheels he adheres.

When enough is adorned
And kith and kin are ignored
Knavish brain he nourishes
Consanguinity’s hands too he finishes.

When decentralization is erased
And supremacy empowered and praised
Tries bleaching the veins bluish
He is a man myopically selfish.

When life is well defined
And true morale is coolly coined
Sees all faces pious and pure
‘The salt of the Earth’ everyone’s cure.

A timely reminder that 'old-fashioned' standards are still valid, and that selfishness is not a good way forward.
