Lowly Bird Poem by James Casey

Lowly Bird

Rating: 4.8

Lowly Bird

I sat and watched a lowly bird,
And wondered, why he was all alone,
He sat there quiet not singing a word.
For it was from him that his mate had flown.

As I sat there watching and wondering why,
I saw a single tear fall from his eye.
He did not sing there was nary a song,
With this loneliness his life won't last long

But as I sat, to him, she returned,
She listened to him sing his beautiful songs
The songs that she had truly yearned
He was happy she was back where she belongs

When I saw them on the very next day,
He was singing a love song so she would stay.
And then I turned and walked away,
For I knew they wished to be alone today
