Lovers Reunion After Death Poem by Sasanka Sekhar Panda

Lovers Reunion After Death

A sad music was pervading
the whole air,
the moon was shining bright
in the autumnal sky,
and I looked at you awestruck,
I found you in the distant dales
extending your arms
inviting me to embrace
taking me into your fold
to the valley of death.

I saw your mystic smile
totally mesmerising.
I saw you in a snow white gown
fluttering in the air,
the cruel silence
was gradually engulfing me,
I thought it to be the reality
but it was a dream.

Again I slept
and found dead
the Following dawn
on my couch
My eyes turning white.

Come on baby!
let both of us
rejoice this reunion,
and rising high
amidst multitudes of suns and moons,
and the galaxy of stars,
let us dance to the cosmic tune
along with Siva Nataraja, *
The Cosmic Dancer.

* Siva Nataraja: In Hindu mythology Lord Siva Nataraja is taken as the Cosmic Dancer.
