Love Shouldn'T Hurt Poem by Daniella Ramirez

Love Shouldn'T Hurt

Look into my eyes
Tell me what you see
It won't be happy
It won't be pretty

There you will see
See the hurt
See the hate
In my eyes I will seem distant

When I look into the mirror
What do I see?
I see myself wishing
I wasn't me

When I look into the mirror
Why do I cry?
I cry because
No matter how hard I try
I'll never be
Anyone else but me

When I look into the mirror
What do I say?
I say society,
Why do you have to make me
Act this way?

When I look in the mirror
And I see things I want to change
I cry, draw, write and try to make me rearrange
Though nothing ever happens,
I know this all too well

Sometimes I wish I could just put me
Under a beauty spell
Don't try to be me and I won't try to be you

There is only one of me
and there is only one of you
Looking up to someone is nothing wrong
but when you try to become
That someone

That's where you don't belong
Just be yourself and play it cool
Why pretend and make
You look like a fool?

It is a masquerade
Nothing more than a fake
So love yourself from you're smile to feet,
Welcome everyone you meet,
For you will die as nobody but you,
So keep your heart and soul true.
