Love Enchants (For All Adams - Happy Valentine's Day! .) Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Love Enchants (For All Adams - Happy Valentine's Day! .)

Rating: 5.0

Love connects, love unites
love so everlasting
love if not for Adams
the eves would never know
never feel, never kiss
never in another's arms sleep;
love abhors, love detests when love fails,
yet love forgives, overlooks mistakes,
love disgraces, love rectifies
love creates new dreams;
love relishes past recollections
love reconciles if love knocks
the door of the heart again,
love opens its bosoms, embraces
cries with joy, fulfillment
when in its text is truth,
for love is the reality
love is the element from God
love is man's gift to women
love is invisible, love is that air
which elevates existence and passion.
In love lives men,
with love creates generation
while women take love
as their tool, their treasure
their silent pleasure,
love enriches life
when love like a flower blooms
everyday in the heart
that asks for love as its gift;
and those that selfishly seek it
get it and wickedly store it
unwilling to share it
with those who need it
unless like beggars
others ask for a part of that love
as alms, as supply, as revival.
Love so wicked when not true
love so generous when real
love returns its measure
sometimes in full,
sometimes less, sometimes more
sometimes perishing with hatred;
yet love in all its images
promises to be there
if you will wait and not despair.
love is the antidote
love is the medicine
love is the science
that creates new life
yet love in the end loses its wonder
when eyes get weary with time
but like an ever-flowing ocean
love keeps rolling
in the hearts
of all Adams and Eves
with the same zest of obsession
yet none ever dare to refrain
from love's punishment,
love's enchantment.
