Lost Love Poem by Oduro Bright Amoh

Lost Love

One dark ghost of a nightly morn
When the cold of dew pierced my bones,
Sleep awoke and fled from my eyes
And joy fled from my heart.
The shy moon under grey blankets veiled her charms,
I picked a pen and quivering, wrote down these lines.
Silence robbed the wind of spirit
And gloom robbed the trees of joy,
Their leaves danced like mountain- rooted stones.
Birds, dazed from liquor sprites,
Sat sullen and ceased to sing morning secrets
It was then a quivering pen penned these lines.
Sad memory like songs of a still-born soul
Rested a familiar pain upon my breasts
And awoke a past sorrow in my spirit.
In that morn my quivering mind
Recalled a love long lost
And as tears blurred my eyes and flooded my sheets
I picked a pen and quivering, wrote down these lines
Reader, read the words sorrow has written.
Wet your eyes with my tears,
Read, read, read and understand
Why in a time of cold darkness and sad reflection,
I picked a pen and quivering, wrote down these lines
