Lose Me Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Lose Me

Take me into the forest and leave me to the trees.
Take me to the desert and desert me in the dunes.
Take me out to sea and toss me to the waves.
Try every way you can imagine to abandon me.

I won't mind.
I won't lose hope.
I will lie back
I will float

If I listen, the birds will sing me home to you.
If I ask, the snakes will slither paths in the sand.
If I begin to drown, the dolphins will bring me back
To that beach where our sand castle stands.

The sky itself is my ally.
The tides are on my side.
The winds are mine to confide in.
The stars are my legion of spies.

So until I decide to leave you.
Until I say we're through
There is no way for you to be free of me,
So why not admit that you love me, too.
