Looking Landward Poem by Lillian Susan Thomas

Looking Landward

Rating: 5.0

Today in a minimalist mood,
Winter paints the blanching beach
In shades of ecru, ivory, straw;
Letting wind be the broad brush,
Pushing sand dunes to soft peaks.
Then shore birds scrawl
In the wet sand a cuniform code
Erased by the next assault of waves
From the green frothy sea.

Scattered along the strand, sand dollars
Like loose change are strewn:
Tips for the artist?

Naseer said it well. Poetic and painterly imagery combined - the reader really sees the scene.
