Looking Glass Poem by Fatin Khalid

Looking Glass

I look into the looking glass
I see what I see, alas
It is not something I wish to see
I wish something else to be

Tis not to say ungratefulness
Has settled in my loneliness
It's just that I wish it were
Anything but her

Can fairer skin be seen within?
To see a brighter smile
A beauty that will melt his heart
Even for a little while

But the looking glass will not deceive
What it shows I must receive
That it is her to what I see
And thankful I must always be
Because it could have come off worse
I don't have deformity and thus
I'm grateful for the looking glass
That I am me, it's me I see, at last
