Look Before You Leap...A Poem For Children Poem by Shaun Cronick

Look Before You Leap...A Poem For Children

Rating: 5.0

The pixies have stolen my marmalade,
Those little people just won't stop.
And now they've pinched my toaster,
And where the Dickens is my laptop.

This is just amazingly beyond belief,
My things they magically steal away.
So I angrily nail the cat-flap shut,
Their only entry is now sad dismay.

But what a real horse's bottom I am,
I'm truly a total nincompoop to behold.
As I gaze at my marmalade toaster and laptop,
On which sits a tiny pile of pixie gold.

I quickly yank the cat-flap nails out,
I'm an idiot accusing borrowers of crime.
For now these little fabled creatures,
I now gladly warmly welcome at any time.

Today I've learnt a valuable lesson,
One to forever remember and to keep.
For when it comes to accusing others,
We should always look before we leap.

In our hearts it will eventually matter,
When we point our finger at big or small.
Sometimes we make regretful mistakes,
And this is the very end of it all.

Another wonderful poem, Shaun. So appropriate for children to read. The moral lesson that has been imparted in this marvelous write must be put into our heart and mind. Each and every stanza is beautifully crafted with ģreat rhyme. Onto my Poem List.

Thank you Rose Marie for you gracious and generous comment. And you are so right when you mention hearts and minds. For that's what its all about and where it begins for the learning young. I thank you again Rose Marie and take care.
