Little Girl Found Poem by Cassandra Boyd

Little Girl Found

I see her there,
peering out from the glass.
Faint traces of a little girl,
laughing while she plays,
a sound so true,
so clear and guileless.

What happened,
to the little girl?
Where did she go?
Won’t you come play with me?
Stay with me?
Just...be?

I need you to lighten my load.
Brighten my day,
Maintain innocence
in the rigors of life.

Come back and visit me.
Comfort me.
Transport me.

Teach me to laugh again,
love again,
recognize basic truths from within.

I’m so glad I found you again,
reflecting in the glass,
returning happy feelings
from the past.
