Like Vultures Poem by Callisse J. DeTerre

Like Vultures

Quacknammering fools
sitting on the spout
like vultures on the scout
watching for the wasted
having nothing better to doobie to
when everything's on meltdown
but not one baby's burst
and it's all in this
scalleywaggering skull of ours
'cause we're stuck in this suck-it-up
slurping wagon wheel
when the day is done
and we're trudging
to the sway of the Beat
in the muddy pool of blood
that the vultures left behind
