Light A Candle Poem by David Harris

Light A Candle

Rating: 4.8

Some roads we take,
are long and dusty,
others are dark and gloomy.
It is then we need a little light
to show us the way.
Light a candle,
when the dark shadows descend,
let its light guide you
to a brighter day.

Light a candle
to see your way through,
when the world
starts closing it on you.
Lets its light be the beacon
to lead you away from distress.
Light a candle,
keep it burning bright,
and let it guide you day and night.

Light the candle in your heart, always follow it and never depart...

If you only knew how many times for how many years, day after day that I've had to do this, if only in my mind....it helps to pick yourself up and start all over again, Easier said than done but then no one said life would be easy....This is a beautiful and helpful poem David and I thank you..........love, marci.xo

I enjoyed your poem with the metaphoric candle. Quite honestly, the title caught my attention while thinking of Millay's candle quatrain. Nicely done!

I've been lighting a lot of candles and many prayers to go with them lately...your word ground the actions...thanks for sharing my friend
