Life And Death [2007] Poem by Catherine Beahl

Life And Death [2007]

In a field far away,
Where blossoms bloom in spring
And song birds
Sing gentle melodies-

In trees that dance
With the calm breeze from the east;

High in the sky,
Clouds drift by without a care
And play peek-a-boo
With the friendly sun-

That shines blazing colours
Of reds and yellows over the land below.

In a town that once stood,
Children cheerfully skipped down the street
Hand in hand with smiles on their faces
Till famine came along.

Families became bankrupted
And streets filled with disease carrying rodents.

Those once happy children
Fell,
Like the setting sun in winter
When it’s blazing colours

Die out and become shades of silver and white
On dark gloomy nights.
