Letter To Heaven Poem by Martine Kolber

Letter To Heaven

With eyes closed
I can see you standing
Out of reach and
You are still wearing
The same old raincoat
Like years ago when we
Where the ones life
Could never split

Or at least we thought
That we could stay
Together in this way
And did not worry
About the threatening
Old man in a dark coat
As he came closer
Our eyes closed stronger

And I never told you all
That’s on my mind I thought
We had so much time
And I never told you I
Was so glad you were mine
I never told you not to leave
I never told you to stay
Now I am here alone

With so much to say
So many words to whisper
Into your ears and soul
So many words without
A direction to go to
Whom should they follow
And they seem so hollow without
The sound of your voice

In between the lines I write
Can you feel my broken side
All these words in all those lines
That in all those years you never
Read over you never read over
A single line of mine
As time was not on our side
And it took you away

Too early to see what a woman
I would be too early to read
The outcome of the seed
You planted deep inside of me
Which you watered with so
Much of your mind and love
Because you believed that I
Could be what you seeded in me

And I never told you all that's on my mind.... Nobody can say everything, but you've shown most of it with this poem! Excellent!
