The city streets are
desolate and deserted
in the dark hours
of the night.
Only the street lights
flicker,
mocking at the humanity.
Everywhere hangs
the gloomy silence.
A owl is hooting somewhere,
beating the devil's drum.
Let us forget the
riotous yesterday
and wait for the dawn,
bringing for us
the message of harmony
and peaceful living.
Don't forget that here
people from
all over the world
have come and settled
in this blessed land
of our's,
upholding the values
of liberty, fraternity
and equality.,
a true strong democracy.
