Let There Be A Longer Night Poem by Wenjun Liu

Let There Be A Longer Night

Rating: 3.5

Before the day, before the rise,
Let there be a longer night.
I would sit by my window side,
With shutted curtains and drooped eyes.
Listen for the broken song,
Never heard after dawn.
Stir in my chair with lazy ease,
A heart grateful for my current peace.
Sun will break in time
With ancient woes and lethal lies.
Before the day, before the rise,
Let there be a longer night.
With shivering stars and sweetened tea,
I could sit forever by my window side.
