Leave The World Behind? Poem by Jodie Louise Pollock

To leave the world behind,

Would take the strength of the blind,
Would challenge the body and the mind,
Are you determined enough to try and find?
Find the courage it takes people to work hard,
Fight against it but keep a hold of your guard,
Look deep into the eyes of your shining knight,
What do you see, passion for the love or for the fight?
Place your hand on their pulsing chest,
Does their maddening heart beat for the upcoming quest?
Feel the anticipation roll off them in uncontrollable waves,
As your soul searches for a way out of the forbidden caves,
Walk away from the unbearable pain in their eyes,
Or stand in front of them and wait for their cry’s?
Do you lie down and feel your soul rise?
As your body stays awake but your heart dies,

To leave the world behind,
Be warned.. It’s hard to remember, then even harder to find..
