Laying In This Battlefield Poem by norman hale

Laying In This Battlefield

Rating: 0.5

I am but a soldier
Laying here on my back
In this bloody battlefield
The one they call Iraq

They should just burn these oil fields
This war was caused by greed
Over who might rule it all
Over all those in need

I'm laying in this battlefield
Because a bullet pierced my side
My buddies are dead all around me
The bomb was their last ride

An Angel just landed beside me
and layed her hand upon my side
said 'You'll be fine now son'
Then smiled at me with pride

I have no one to care for me
I have no one back home
So should I return
On the streets, I must roam

Yes it's true the towers fell
But it was done in revenge
People can't keep noses to themselves
It could send anyone into a fringe

I here the troops coming now
So I'll stop on this page
And pray this war soon stops
Before the next rampage
