Layer Cake Poem by Bryan Taplits

Layer Cake

The mementos of your life
Are everywhere to be found,
Either in the dreams of mists in rain soaked skies-
Or recalling those memories-
embattled in the ground.
Each is stored in one's memorys
stubborn wake-
And scrumptious are they when played,
As the fillings of your dear epochs
Comprise the layers
in Life's-Layer-Cake.
And all the layers
lead you to one more path-
From childhood to tethered age,
But, "Careful! "
don't stay with one layered chew-
Or you could miss a future page.
