Last Of The Palm Trees Poem by Ima Ryma

Last Of The Palm Trees

The few palm trees are looking at
The latest building humans built
Upon the prime beach habitat.
For humankind there seems no guilt
In ever victimizing trees
To assure enough building room.
Humans do whatever they please,
And could care less of trees they doom.
The few palm trees that still remain
Remember past when palm trees were
Abundant, but now just feel pain
That future is so insecure.

In sadness, the palm trees all know
New building will come, they will go.
