Land Of Banks And Watches Poem by Irene Bitter

Land Of Banks And Watches

Welcome to Switzerland - the land of banks and watches,
Of mountains and yodeling,
Of time and money,
Of milk and chocolate,
Of cows and honey,
Of fine wine and cigarette butts,
Of cafes and boutiques
That are suspiciously empty
At the most lively times of the day,
Of graffiti and weed,
Of illegal immigrants,
And beggars sleeping on the street,
Where prostitution’s legal,
And euthanasia too,
For believe it or not,
The chocolate covered life
With time and money,
Belongs only to the lucky few.
