Kokura Gray

He was alive
because on that day...
in Kokura
the skies were gray.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Note: A student came up to JBO, an American teacher of English in Japan and told her he was born on Aug 6,1945 in Kokura Because of overcast skies, Nagasaki not Kokura was selected as the 2nd target for the only reported time atom bombs were acknowledged dropping on a human population.

Synchronicity: I was about to tell someone that 'grey pearl' was
doubly noxious to me... because gray was a depressing color and
pearls are torn from innocent oysters... going through my older poems I came across this one in which gray skies saved people's lives.

I have heard 3 different accounts of which was the 2nd city chosen... Kokura, Niijima and Niigata
