Kissing You Poem by Atef Ayadi

Kissing You

Kissing you
Is like walking on the
Ground
With naked feet,
And you are
A Midwest lady.
Between the flatness of corn fields
And soybeans
The big towns
Rises
At the speed of your breath.

So, I take my time;
Cause’
I am walking and
Crossing the fastest
High speed streets, vacuums,
And stops
With naked feet.

Stay hinged,
Clanged,
And nailed down to me,
As long as you want;
As long as your feet
Are stepping on mine,
And let me melt the snow, and
And unearth the ground, and
Let the sun and the rain
help grow the corn fields
And soybeans;
So, I can free the ground
From your naked feet
and I can harvest
All the festivals.
