Keep Moving Anyway Poem by Bill Galvin

Keep Moving Anyway

Sometimes we're heading up a mountain;
Other times we're heading for a fall.

Sometimes we throw coins in the fountain;
Other times we need to make a withdrawal.

Sometimes we're opening up a curtain;
Other times we're patching up a wall.

Sometimes we like to do a bit of flirtin';
Other times we long for an empty hall.

Sometimes we're tucking our shirt in;
Other times we're letting our hair fall.

Sometimes we're oh so certain;
Other times we know nothing at all.

Time keeps moving anyway, reassertin'
That no matter the words we scrawl;
No matter where we end up searchin';
No matter if our life is big or small;
No matter the fires that may be burnin';
Certain matters can't be forestalled.

Sometimes the storm may worsen,
Those times we need sight of landfall.

Sometimes for a real lover yearnin';
Most times settling for a bird's call.

Sometimes every dawn relearnin';
Other times regretting next nightfall.

Sometimes we're oh so certain;
Other times we know nothing at all.
Sometimes we are so damn certain;
Most times we are nothing at all.
