Just One More Day Poem by Ella Rose

Just One More Day

To: Karen 1969-2010

If I could see you just one more day,
I'd beg and plead for you to stay,

I'd tell you all the things you've missed,
We'd laugh and cry and reminisce.

We'd go to the book store at 6: 00 in the morning,
No matter if it's snowing or pouring,

You'd buy a book on Knights Templar,
Man, life with you was so much simpler.

I'd watch you play with Mugsy and Bo,
And on a walk I'd ask why you had to go.

You'd say, "Oh bird, I'm so sorry girl,
I wasn't made to stay in this world,

I'm way up here with the Lord,
I am so very busy, and never bored.

I hold the babies and play with the dogs,
I build bird houses out of twigs and logs.

I watch my family every single day,
Please don't cry that I went away.

I'm so very happy and so very free,
When you see a tiny birdie think of me.

I'm in the pines and in the snow falling,
And in the gentle breeze, that's me calling.

I know I was difficult when I saw you last,
And yes, our time together went way too fast.

Now I need you to stay very strong,
Because way up here there's nothing wrong.

I LU to heaven's sky and back,
It's time to get your life on track.

And now it's time for me to go back home,
With me in your heart, you're never alone."

If I could see you just one more day,
I'd tell you now, that I'm ok.

Thanks for the friendship and for the love,
Oh my, how I'm grateful that you're above.

I'll never forget our little talk,
And will always remember our little walk.

I LU more than you'll ever know,
Thank God up there, you had to go.
