Just A Glimpse Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Just A Glimpse

Whilst lounging in my living room
Prostrate on my settee
I saw the reason of Your tomb
And of that dreadful tree

I saw the lance the thorny crown
The sodden bloody hill
A bride adorned in radiant gown
According to God’s will

I saw the race of Adam lost
I saw as darkness fell
That love alone could pay the cost
To free from death and hell

Not of our own was plain to see
Nor fleshly force displayed
Only if man were born again
Would darkness ever fade

I saw the righteousness of light
The healing might of care
True potency to win life’s fight
Is selflessly to share

Through love true love through selfless love
The Way for man’s made free
By which by grace we’ll rise above
To peace eternally

I saw cherubim sword and flame
The cross, God’s Lamb & Son
That faith and trust in Jesus’ name
Is true salvation won

I saw a King I saw a cloud
I saw a mighty throng
A trumpet sounding long and loud
And Heaven break in song
