Just A Cat Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Just A Cat

Upright ears listening
For the slightest sound…
The hum of bee wings
Car doors closing
Foot steps approaching predictably

He is just a common cat
Four pawed like most…
Moving quietly without notice
Eyeing attentively…
Never withdrawn from partnership

Eager to situate upon a flattened lap
Stretching… reaching to pat a chin
Receiving a gentle stroke to reassure
Affection that has grown over the years
As a purring warmth mellows the soul
